Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Health (State Minister) Dr. SM Ziauddin Hyder visited ‘JMI Industrial Park’ owned by JMI Group, one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing companies. While visiting the industrial park located in the Vitikandi area of Bhaberchar Union of Gazaria Upazila of Munshiganj on Wednesday (June 10) morning, he highly praised the impeccable contribution of JMI Group to the country’s healthcare.
During the visit to JMI Industrial Park, Dr. SM Ziauddin Hyder was warmly welcomed by JMI Group Founder and Managing Director Md. Abdur Razzaq. Among others in the visiting team were Member of Parliament for Munshiganj-3 (Sadar-Gazaria) constituency Md. Kamruzzaman, Munshiganj District Superintendent of Police Menhazul Alam, Local Government Department Deputy Director Mousumi Mahbub, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Imran Ahmed, Gazaria Upazila Acting Executive Officer Hamida Mustafa and Gazaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge Hasan Ali.
In a view exchange meeting held after the visit, various ongoing activities, production capacity enhancement, use of modern technology and future expansion plans were highlighted by JMI Group.
Addressing the meeting, JMI Group Founder and Managing Director Md. Abdur Razzaq said that JMI is one of the most promising names in the country’s health sector. Starting its business in 1999 with only 50 employees and producing three types of products, the total number of employees in various institutions of JMI Group has now exceeded 8,500. Currently, there are 42 industrial establishments under the JMI Group in various sectors including pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturing, marketing, healthcare, housing, printing, industrial gas, LPG, LPG cylinder and auto tank manufacturing. In its 26-year journey, foreign direct investment (FDI) has come from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey and China in various establishments of the JMI Group. At present, more than 400 types of medical equipment and healthcare products are being manufactured in our various establishments under the JMI Group, out of which at least 50 are manufactured in Bangladesh for the first time. These manufactured products are being regularly exported to more than 40 countries of the world including Asia, Europe, the Middle East, South America and Africa.
He further said, “We are expanding our business steadily for the welfare of the country and its people. Our journey to ensure better healthcare for the people of the country will continue in the days to come, Insha Allah.”
At the exchange of views, Dr. SM Ziauddin Hyder, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health (State Minister), said, “JMI has been playing an important role in the country’s pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector for a long time. Their modern production system, orderly working environment and efforts to produce quality products are highly commendable.”
Expressing satisfaction with the overall activities and management of JMI Industrial Park, he expressed hope that the institution will continue to produce world-class medical equipment in the country, create employment, and contribute more to the overall economy and healthcare in the future, while maintaining international standards.
