Bangladesh has once again earned recognition on
the global stage as two promising young changemakers, Md Toufiq Elahi and Tisha
Khandokar, have been selected as in-person delegates for the prestigious World
Bank Group Youth Summit 2026, scheduled to take place on June 11–12, 2026, at
the World Bank Group Headquarters in Washington, D.C., USA.
The World Bank Group Youth Summit is the
institution’s largest annual event dedicated to young people aged 18–35. The
Summit brings together thousands of participants from around the world to
engage in meaningful dialogue, share innovative ideas, and collaborate on
solutions to some of the most pressing global development challenges.
This year’s Summit will be held under the theme
“FutureWorks: Designing Jobs for the Digital Age,” focusing on the future of
employment, education, skills development, and entrepreneurship in an
increasingly digital world.
Due to limited capacity, in-person delegates
were selected through a highly competitive, merit-based scoring process
involving applicants from across the globe. The selection of Md Toufiq Elahi
and Tisha Khandokar reflects the growing impact and contribution of Bangladeshi
youth in international development, innovation, and leadership initiatives.
The mission of the World Bank Group Youth
Summit is to empower young people to develop innovative solutions to
development challenges, equip them with the tools and knowledge needed to
create meaningful impact, and foster dialogue between youth, the World Bank
Group, and other key global stakeholders.
The Summit is connected to a global network of
more than 10,000 alumni from over 170 countries, creating opportunities for collaboration,
knowledge exchange, and long-term engagement among emerging leaders worldwide.
The participation of these two Bangladeshi
delegates highlights the country’s continued presence in global youth
leadership platforms and demonstrates the potential of its young generation to
contribute to shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future.
