The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, Mr. Mia Md. Mainul Kabir, presented his credentials as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to Liberia to His Excellency the President of Liberia, Mr. Joseph Boakai, on 25 May 2026.
After presenting the credentials, the Honorable Ambassador met with His Excellency the President in a private meeting. He conveyed his greetings and congratulations to the people and government of Liberia on behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh. He expressed his gratitude to His Excellency the President for accepting him as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Bangladesh to Liberia. He mentioned the absolute majority of the government of Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman in the 13th National Assembly elections and the priority of the government’s various plans, especially the improvement of relations with African countries.
The Ambassador highlighted the glorious role of Bangladesh Peacekeeping Force in the reconstruction of war-torn Liberia, especially in the medical and infrastructure sectors. He highlighted the major exports of Bangladesh in the international market, especially ready-made garments, pharmaceuticals, jute products, information technology, etc., and sought the cooperation of His Excellency the President in increasing the export of those products to Liberia. Referring to the success of Bangladesh in the agricultural sector, he proposed the initiative of Contact Farms in Liberia. He expressed hope that the countries of the Global South would work together to meet the challenges of the world system and maintain global peace. He invited His Excellency the President to visit Bangladesh at a convenient time.
His Excellency the President of Liberia conveyed his greetings to the government and people of Bangladesh. He expressed gratitude for the glorious role of Bangladesh Peacekeeping Force in Liberia. The President expressed special interest in expanding bilateral trade and cultural exchanges. He also mentioned Liberia’s ongoing role in the international arena to ensure global peace and expressed his hope to work together with Bangladesh. He stated that his government would consider the issues discussed seriously and assured the Honorable Ambassador of cooperation in the discharge of his duties. The private meeting was attended by the Acting Foreign Minister of Liberia, Honorable Ethel Davis, and high-ranking officials of the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
