The police of Bayezid Bostami Police Station of Chattogram
City Police (CMP) have arrested two people with a foreign pistol and four
bullets. According to the police, the two arrested are associates of identified
Chattogram terrorist David Emon.
They were arrested in a raid in front of the Wajedia
playground on Oxygen-Quaish Road on Sunday night. The arrested two are Md. Asif
(25) and Saidul Islam alias Arif (24).
According to the information provided by the police, a
raid was conducted in the area last night to arrest the accused Md. Asif, who
is under a court warrant. Sensing the presence of the police, the two tried to
run away. Later, the police arrested them.
According to the police, later, a search of their bodies
was carried out and a foreign pistol and two bullets were recovered from Md.
Asif and two more bullets from Saidul Islam alias Arif. The police said that
the slide of the recovered pistol had the words ‘AUTOMATIC PISTOL MADE IN
ITALY’ written on it.
According to the police, the two arrested could not show
any valid documents to carry weapons and ammunition. During interrogation, the
police claimed that they were associates of identified Chattogram terrorist
David Emon and confessed to using these weapons in various crimes including
extortion.
A case was filed under the Arms Act at Bayezid Bostami
Police Station yesterday in this incident.
Police said that Md. Asif has 11 cases including
preparation of robbery, extortion, rioting, Arms Act, attack on government
employees and attempt to murder. There are two cases of extortion against
Saidul Islam alias Arif.
