In the post-July Movement period, the Chattogram Port Authority has achieved significant success in recruitment and promotion through administrative reforms, transparency and merit-based human resource management. According to the information published by the port authority, a record number of officers and employees have received this opportunity in the last two years in terms of direct recruitment and promotion compared to the past.
Chattogram Port is the main gateway to the country’s foreign trade. This institution, which handles about 90 percent of the country’s import-export activities, has been working to build an efficient, transparent and accountable administration for a long time.
It is known that after the current chairman Rear Admiral S. M. Moniruzzaman took office on August 11, 2024, administrative activities gained momentum. Initiatives were taken to increase the morale of employees, ensure transparency and provide promotions and appointments based on merit. As a result, positive changes have been visible in human resource management.
According to the information received, 208 people were directly appointed and 1,264 officers and employees were promoted in just two years from August 2024 to July 2026. Those concerned say that this is a significant progress compared to the previous period.
According to statistics, 144 people were directly appointed and 599 were promoted between January 2021 and July 2024. On the other hand, between August 2024 and July 2026, the number of direct appointments increased to 208 and the number of promotions stood at 1,264.
The port authority claims that this trend of merit-based appointments and promotions is playing an important role in increasing the skills of employees, quality of service and the efficiency of the organization. At the same time, work is also continuing to strengthen the capacity of Chattogram Port in the country’s economic development and international trade by ensuring good governance, transparency and accountability.
