DHAKA : The Charter Presentation Ceremony of the newly formed Rotary Club of Dhaka Blues was held recently in Dhaka, embodying Rotary International’s motto, “Service Above Self.”

The event was graced by Rotary Country Coordinator Dr. Ishtiaq Zaman as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included Deputy Country Coordinator Shamsul Huda, Past Governor Magfur Uddin Ahmed, Past Governor A.F.M. Alamgir, and Retired Major General Fazlur Rahman. M.A. Baten Khan, Chairman of BDDL Properties Ltd., also addressed the gathering. The programme was chaired by Dr. Hasrat Ara Begum, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, a press release said.

In his keynote address, Dr. Ishtiaq Zaman emphasized that establishing a new Rotary club requires vision, commitment, leadership, and collective effort. He expressed confidence that the Rotary Club of Dhaka Blues would play a significant role in community development, humanitarian services, leadership development, and social welfare initiatives.

He further noted that the club’s charter members are now part of Rotary’s global network of more than 1.4 million Rotarians, who are dedicated to creating positive and lasting change in communities around the world.

The speakers highlighted Rotary’s enduring commitment to humanitarian service, ethical leadership, and community engagement. They underscored the importance of volunteerism and collective action in addressing social challenges and improving lives. The speakers also conveyed their best wishes for the continued growth and success of the Rotary Club of Dhaka Blues.

In her remarks, Dr. Hasrat Ara Begum outlined the club’s future plans and reaffirmed its commitment to serving society through impactful humanitarian and community-based initiatives.

At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Ishtiaq Zaman expressed sincere gratitude to all members, well-wishers, and guests for their support and participation. He called upon everyone to work together towards building a more compassionate, inclusive, and prosperous society.
