In line with the auspicious inauguration of the ‘250
million tree plantation program in 5 years’ announced by the Prime Minister to
protect the environment and combat the adverse effects of climate change across
the country, the Rangamati Hill District Council organized a tree plantation program in Rangamati district.
The program was organized on Saturday in the area adjacent to the ‘Swagatom Rangamati’ gate, the entrance to Rangamati. Various species of trees were planted in this tree plantation program.
Participating in the program, Rangamati Hill District Council member Md. Habib Azam planted a golden tree sapling. At the time, he said that there is no alternative to tree plantation to maintain environmental balance, preserve biodiversity and face the challenges of climate change. He urged everyone to plant more trees and take care of them.
The organizer said that to make the tree plantation program announced by the Prime Minister a success, tree plantation activities will be conducted in various places in Rangamati district in phases. The concerned expressed hope that such initiatives will play an important role in building an environmentally friendly and green Bangladesh.
