The Adani Group has donated approximately BDT 14 crore (INR 11 crore) to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support people affected by the recent floods in Assam, India, a press release said.
At the same time, the group’s social welfare and development arm, the Adani Foundation, has expanded its relief operations in the flood-affected areas of Upper Assam.
With support from Adani Smart Meter and Guwahati International Airport Limited (GIAL), the distribution of relief materials has begun among around 8,000 flood-affected families in Nazira subdivision of Sivasagar district and Silapathar area of Dhemaji district.
Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude for the Adani Group’s support through a message on social media platform X. He said the contribution would further strengthen the state’s relief and rehabilitation initiatives and help thousands of flood-affected families.
The Adani Foundation said the ongoing relief distribution programme marks the first phase of its assistance efforts. The organisation has also committed to supporting the rehabilitation of affected communities and contributing to long-term reconstruction initiatives in the flood-hit regions.
