On Monday, 10 people were killed in separate landslides in different parts of the district. The victims included women and children, and most of the deaths occurred in the Rohingya camps in Ukhiya.
A seven-year-old boy also died after a wall collapsed on him in Pekua upazila during the heavy rain.
Cox’s Bazar has been hit by continuous heavy rain for the past few days. The rain has made many hill slopes weak, increasing the risk of more landslides.
Weather officials said houses built on hills and at the foot of hills are the most at risk during heavy rainfall.
The district recorded 176 millimetres of rain between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon. Authorities have urged people living in landslide-prone areas to stay alert as more rain is expected.
