Prioritizing skills development, employment
generation, and sustainable economic growth for low-income people, PKSF has
approved a financing target of BDT 160 billion for FY 2026–27, representing a
45.34 per cent increase over the outgoing fiscal year. The budget and the annual
work plan were approved at the meeting of PKSF's General Body on 23 June 2026
at PKSF Bhaban-1in Agargaon.
The meeting provided necessary directions for the
effective utilization of the Bangladesh Bank incentive fund allocated for the
development of the cottage, micro, small and medium enterprise (CMSME) sector,
which is expected to facilitate the disbursement of an additional BDT 50
billion. The meeting also emphasized microenterprise development, skills
enhancement and productive employment generation. Alongside conventional
financing, PKSF will strengthen sustainable employment and entrepreneurship
through blended financing approaches combining skills development, innovation,
debt finance and equity finance. Special emphasis will also be placed on the
creative economy and climate adaptation initiatives.In the upcoming fiscal
year, PKSF will focus not only on financing but also on developing skilled
human resources and creating sustainable employment opportunities. Particular
attention will be given to expanding skills training, entrepreneurship
development and market linkage initiatives for youth, women and marginalized
communities. At the same time, research activities supporting poverty
reduction, skills development and employment generation will be further
strengthened. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to
increasing productive employment and creating a more enabling environment for
entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.
Earlier in the day, a meeting of the PKSF Governing Body
was also held. Both meetings were chaired by Zakir Ahmed Khan, Chairman of
PKSF. PKSF Managing Director Md Fazlul Kader, Board Members Dr Shahid Akhtar
Hossain, Nurun Nahar, Farzanah Chowdhury and Prof Dr Md Taufiqul Islam
participated in the meetings. In addition to the members of the Governing Body,
members of the General Body were also present at the General Body meeting.
