Since joining Anwara Upazila of Chattogram, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Md. Abu Jafar Majumder has been in the news for conducting regular mobile courts and campaigns. He is playing an active role in the administration’s activities on various issues related to public interest, including anti-drug campaigns.
Last Sunday (September 6), Md. Abu Jafar Majumder conducted a mobile court in the Battali Bazar area of Anwara Upazila at around 8 pm. At that time, the administration reported that a person named Md. Selim (52) was found consuming Yaba at the scene. Later, he was fined Tk 500 and sentenced to 15 days of non-commissioned imprisonment under the relevant section of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
According to administration sources, in addition to strengthening anti-drug activities in Anwara, regular mobile courts are being conducted on various issues related to public interest. Immediate legal action is being taken against those who violate the law through these campaigns.
According to locals, the administration’s activity against various irregularities and crimes is becoming visible due to the regular campaign. Especially, the issue is gaining importance at the local level due to the continuation of the anti-drug campaign.
The administration has informed that regular mobile court campaigns against drugs will continue in Anwara Upazila in the public interest.
However, the long-term impact of these activities of the administration will depend on regular surveillance, continuity of law enforcement and the cooperation of the local people.
