The Central Orientation Program for newly admitted
students of the Fall 2026 semester was held today, September 8, 2026, at the
Daffodil Smart City campus of Daffodil International University (DIU) in
Ashulia. The day-long program introduced the new students to the university’s
academic and co-curricular activities, various opportunities, facilities, and
services.
In the morning, the newcomers were welcomed at the
Swadhinata Shommelon Kendro with flowers and commemorative gifts by members of
BNCC, Air Rover Scouts, and student volunteers. Various DIU clubs, along with
the Office of International Affairs, Career Development Center, HRDI,
Admission.AC, Skill.Jobs, GoEdu, and DILC, also set up booths to provide the
students with information about their respective services and activities.
The formal session of the program began with recitations
from the Holy Quran and the Bhagavad Gita, followed by the national anthem of
the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the theme song of Daffodil
International University. A documentary on DIU was screened, while welcome
messages from the deans of different faculties of the university were also
presented to the newcomers.
Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Kamal Pasha, Advisor, Office of the Students’
Affairs, DIU, delivered the welcome address. Prof. Dr. M. R. Kabir, Hon’ble
Vice Chancellor of DIU, delivered a special address to the newly admitted
students. Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, also welcomed
and greeted the newcomers through a video message.
The chief guest of the program was Mohammad Mushfiqur
Rahim, national cricket star and former captain of the Bangladesh National
Cricket Team. In his address, he shared his experiences with the newcomers and
inspired them to move forward with determination and confidence in pursuing
their goals.
Later, crests were presented to the special guests and
distinguished guests of the university.
One of the highlights of the program was the alumni
experience-sharing session. The session featured Priya Rani Dey, Key Account
Manager at SSLCommerz and alumna of the Department of Computer Science and
Engineering (CSE); Md. Farhad Hossain, Assistant Manager at ACI Motors Limited
and alumnus of the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC); Md.
Sazzadur Rahman Shawon, Assistant Manager at Miyaki Media Limited and alumnus
of the Department of Business Administration (BA); and Engineer Md. Rezaul
Karim, Founder and CEO of Sunpower Technology and alumnus of the Department of
Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).The alumni shared their educational
journeys, professional experiences, and insights into career development with
the newly admitted students.
The ‘Meet the Achievers’ segment was another notable
feature of the program, where students who had achieved outstanding success in
different fields were honoured. Winners of various events of the
university’s sports competition were
also awarded prizes. The prizes were handed over to the winning students by
Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Kamal Pasha, Advisor, Office of the Students’
Affairs.Following the formal session, a photoshoot was arranged for the newly
admitted students in front of the Knowledge Tower at Daffodil Smart City. In
the afternoon, a cultural program began at the SwadhinataShommelon Kendro. The
event featured various entertaining cultural performances, including dance, and
became vibrant with the active participation of the newcomers.
Organized by the Office of the Students’ Affairs, the
day-long orientation program provided the Fall 2026 newcomers with an
opportunity to become familiar with the academic environment, activities,
facilities, and opportunities at Daffodil International University while
marking the beginning of a new chapter in their university life.
The university authorities expressed hope that the
orientation program would help the newly admitted students adapt quickly to the
university environment and support them in moving forward toward their academic
and career goals.
