The police have demanded to unravel the mystery of the controversial mother-daughter murder case that took place in Chenamati Barua Para of Parikoda Union in Anwara Upazila of Chittagong. In addition to arresting the main accused Rimon Barua alias Teju Barua, the law enforcement agencies have recovered the knife used in the murder and the victim's mobile phone based on the information given by him, the law enforcement agencies said.
This information was given at a press conference of the Chittagong District Police on Monday (June 15).
Police said that after the sensational murder that took place in Chenamati Barua Para of Parikoda Union in Anwara, several special teams were formed under the direction of the Superintendent of Police, following the direction of the District Detective Branch (DB) and Anwara Police Station. As part of the investigation, technical analysis, intelligence surveillance and raids were conducted at various places.
The investigation revealed that after the incident, the accused went into hiding and changed his location to multiple places. Later, with the help of information technology and intelligence analysis, he was arrested from Patiya area on Sunday night.
Police said that during the initial interrogation, Rimon Barua confessed to his involvement in the murder. According to the information he gave, he was lurking behind the victims' house with the intention of stealing a stamp related to Sujon Barua's loan. At that time, Eni Barua screamed and stabbed him with a knife. Later, he stabbed Priyanti Barua, who came to the scene after hearing her mother's screams, to death.
Police said that while leaving the scene, the accused fled with Eni Barua's mobile phone.
According to the arrested accused, the knife used in the murder was recovered from a canal behind the victim's house. In addition, Eni Barua's mobile phone was also recovered from a pond next to the Patiya railway line.
Chittagong District Police said that significant progress has been made in the investigation by recovering important evidence in the case. At the same time, the investigation into this case is continuing and all related issues are being seriously investigated.
