This service has been launched in line with Bangladesh Bank’s initiative to expand cashless and digital transactions and the government’s drive to encourage digital payments. Bangla QR will make inter-bank payments easier and more convenient. One of the biggest advantages of Bangla QR is that transactions are completed instantly and securely using a specific QR code, without risk, for merchants. As a result, merchants no longer need to keep multiple QR codes for different institutions. This simplifies the transaction process and saves time. QR-based transactions can play an important role in expanding the country’s cashless economy. QR payments can be an effective medium, especially for small traders who have not yet fully embraced digital transactions. It is also very convenient for buyers as they can pay easily through mobile phones. Bangla QR will be required for merchants to obtain and renew new trade licenses.
The SSL (Software Shop Limited) as the acquiring partner and CIBL (Technology Consultant Limited) as the mobile app vendor are providing important technical support to this initiative. From September 1, 2026, the Bangla QR service will be open to all customers of any bank and MFS, including Shahjalal Islami Bank.
