The District Detective Branch (DB) has arrested two armed men in a raid in the remote hilly area of Patia, Chittagong. During this, two single-barreled guns, two domestically made LGs, six kirichs, five ramdas, a damada, an iron cutter and two mobile phones were recovered from them.
Under the overall direction of Chittagong District Police Superintendent Md. Masud Alam, a special team of the District DB Police conducted the raid in the remote hilly area of Kelishahar Union of Patia Police Station on Thursday (July 24) afternoon.
Police said that the raid conducted on the basis of secret information and arrested the two armed men in the raid despite the remote hilly path and hostile environment. The arrested are Md. Delwar Hossain (54) and Md. Mohsin (33) of Innerpara area of Kelishahar Union.
Later, based on the information provided by the arrested, a search was conducted under the bed of Delwar Hossain's residence in Innerpara area of ward number 6 of Kelishahar Union. Six kirichs, five ramdas, a damada, an iron cutter and two mobile phones were recovered from there.
Then, the police conducted a raid in the Gachbagan area of Chhatibhanga Afchar in the same area and recovered two single-barrel guns and two country-made LGs hidden there.
Initial police investigation revealed that the recovered firearms and country-made weapons were stored for use in various terrorist and criminal activities.
Chittagong District Police said that the operation is continuing following the zero tolerance policy against crime, terrorism and illegal weapons. Intelligence surveillance has been strengthened in various areas of the district, including remote hilly areas.
The investigation and operation of the District DB Police is continuing to identify other accomplices, sources of weapons, and possible terrorist groups involved in the incident and bring them under the law. The process of taking legal action in this incident is underway.
