The Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB) has seized 124 bottles of Indian Escafe syrup in an anti-narcotics operation at the Chapainawabganj border. The narcotics were seized during a raid in Manoharpur village of Durlavpur union of Shibganj upazila of the district at around 2 am on Sunday (July 12).
According to 53 BGB sources, members of the Manoharpur BOP under the battalion conducted a special operation based on secret information and recovered 124 bottles of Indian Escafe syrup from an abandoned place. The estimated market value of the seized syrup is Tk 49,600. The seized narcotics have been handed over to Shibganj Police Station for further legal action.
Meanwhile, in various operations conducted by 53 BGB in the current month of July, a total of 271 bottles of Indian Escafe syrup, 64 bottles of intoxicating Fairdeal syrup and 46 bottles of liquor have been seized so far. The total estimated market value of the recovered narcotics is Tk 2 lakh 3 thousand 100.
Chapainawabganj Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PSC, confirmed the authenticity of the operation and said that the BGB has always been strict in ensuring security in the border areas, preventing push-ins, suppressing smuggling and implementing the government's 'zero tolerance' policy against drugs. He also said that the BGB's operations will continue in the future to prevent any kind of illegal activities in the border areas.
