NSU tops private university list in QS rankings 2027 again

North South University (NSU) retains its position as the #1 private university in Bangladesh in the QS World University Rankings 2027. NSU has been placed in the 901–950 ranking-band, moving one ranking-band up from that of last year, a press release said.
This year, QS ranked 1,504 universities worldwide. The rankings are among the most widely recognized global benchmarks for higher education, informed by indicators such as academic reputation, employability, and graduate outcomes, student experience, and international opportunities.
Among Bangladeshi universities featuring in the rankings, the University of Dhaka secured the highest position nationally, followed by the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). North South University remains the highest-ranked private university in the country, and is placed in the third rank nationally, including private and public universities.
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor of NSU, said, “Maintaining the university’s position as the leading private university in Bangladesh reflects the dedication and collective efforts of its students, faculty, staff, and alumni in realizing the goals of an institute of higher education. This continuing recognition will further inspire the university to strengthen its academic excellence, research, and global engagement.”
The result reaffirms NSU’s standing as a leading institution in Bangladesh and highlights its continued commitment to quality university education, impactful research, and meaningful innovation. As the university advances its strategic goals, it remains focused on producing greater difference-making impacts both nationally and internationally.
