DHAKA : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today inaugurated a training programme on job-oriented and technical education for teachers.

The Prime Minister formally launched the programme at 11:25 am by pressing a button on a laptop at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Center in the capital.

National University (NU) arranged the training programme with the theme ‘We will take job-oriented education, we will work around the world’ to develop 12,000 college teachers across the country as skilled teachers.

On the occasion, NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah presented the Prime Minister with a memorial memento and a sapling.

At the onset of the programme, a documentary highlighting various aspects of the life and works of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was screened.

The song “Prothom Bangladesh Amar, Shesh Bangladesh; Jibon Bangladesh Amar, Moron Bangladesh” was played in the background of the documentary.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Prime Minister’s Adviser for education Mahdi Amin and NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah spoke at the inaugural session.

Under the new curriculum, students will receive training in freelancing, entrepreneurship development, digital marketing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science.

To ensure effective teaching in these fields, 900 master trainers have already been prepared. Through them, 12,000 teachers will be trained in phases.
