Through its ‘আপনার স্বস্তিতে, আমাদের আনন্দ’ initiative, the retailer is passing operational savings on to customers while accepting lower margins on essential products

Unimart has introduced a new customer-focused initiative, ‘আপনার স্বস্তিতে, আমাদের আনন্দ ,aimed at making everyday shopping more affordable. Covering more than 3,500 essential products, the initiative brings customers more competitive prices through improved operational efficiency, direct sourcing and a deliberate reduction in the retailer’s own profit margins, a press release said.

With household expenses remaining an important consideration for consumers, Unimart is taking a proactive approach to delivering better value without compromising on product quality or service standards.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Gazi Mahfuzur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer of Unimart, said, “In the current market environment, the cost of everyday essentials has become an important consideration for households. We believe standing by our customers means more than ensuring quality products and services. It also means making a genuine effort to ease the cost of their daily shopping. Through ‘আপনার স্বস্তিতে, আমাদের আনন্দ’, we want to translate that commitment into meaningful value for the people who place their trust in us.”

At the heart of the initiative is a series of operational improvements designed to reduce costs and minimize waste. Unimart is optimizing resource utilization across its daily operations while adopting more responsible energy consumption practices. These include making greater use of natural daylight at its outlets and managing air conditioning more efficiently to reduce electricity consumption.

The retailer is also strengthening its direct sourcing practices to reduce reliance on intermediaries and minimize procurement costs. Beyond creating cost efficiencies, direct sourcing allows Unimart to maintain greater oversight of product quality and authenticity, supported by quality controls throughout sourcing, storage and handling.

Importantly, the initiative goes beyond operational cost reductions. Unimart is also accepting lower profit margins on selected everyday essentials to extend greater value to customers. By combining cost efficiencies, more streamlined sourcing and margin adjustments, the retailer is making competitive pricing possible across more than 3,500 products while maintaining its commitment to quality.

The initiative is supported by the collective efforts of Unimart employees, partner brands and suppliers, whose collaboration plays an important role in delivering improved value while maintaining consistent product and service standards.

Through ‘আপনার স্বস্তিতে, আমাদের আনন্দ’, Unimart seeks to make everyday shopping more accessible and rewarding. The initiative reflects the retailer’s broader commitment to understanding customers’ evolving needs and ensuring that improvements in business efficiency translate into meaningful benefits for the people it serves.
