The District Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 12 individuals in connection with the murder of Zahedul Alam—known as ‘Picchi Zahid’—in Satkania, Chattogram. One of the arrested suspects, Md. Azad, has given a confessional statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Zahedul was hacked and beaten to death in the Purangar area on the night of August 30; Md. Wahid was also injured during the incident.

Police stated that the murder stemmed from the posting of a video on social media. The victim's mother, Manowara Begum, filed a case at Satkania Police Station on September 2, naming 13 individuals and accusing another 5–6 unidentified persons.

Police reported that the 12 suspects were arrested following raids in Pahartali and various parts of Dhaka. Operations are ongoing to apprehend others involved in the incident.
