
DHAKA : Daffodil International University (DIU) is set to
host a significant international engagement on higher education quality
assurance and accreditation as Dato’ Professor Dr. Mohammad Shatar bin Sabran,
Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), Malaysia,
visits Bangladesh on 14 September 2026.The visit will bring together senior
leaders from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency, Bangladesh Accreditation
Council (BAC), and Daffodil International University, creating an important
platform for sharing experiences and strengthening dialogue on international
standards, accreditation practices and institutional quality assurance.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohammad Shatar bin Sabran is a senior
Malaysian higher-education leader with extensive experience in quality
assurance, university governance, leadership and community development. He has
been serving as Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency
(MQA) since 8 February 2021 and currently also serves as a Vice-President of
the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL). He
previously completed a three-year term as President of the ASEAN Quality
Assurance Network (AQAN), contributing to regional cooperation in
higher-education quality assurance.
As part of the visit, the Institutional Quality Assurance
Cell (IQAC) of Daffodil International University will organize two strategic
engagements at Daffodil Smart City. The first one is, “Strategic Discussion on
Accreditation Preparedness and Institutional Way Forward,” and the second
session, “MQA–DIU Engagement on Quality Assurance and Accreditation Strategy,”.
Adding further significance to the event, the Chairman of
the Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) and Prof. Dr. Md. Akter Hossain Khan
will join the session, creating an important opportunity for dialogue between
the accreditation leadership of Bangladesh and Malaysia and the academic
leadership of Daffodil International University.
Through this high-level engagement, Daffodil International
University aims to strengthen its international collaboration and institutional
quality culture while creating a platform for Bangladesh–Malaysia knowledge
exchange on higher education accreditation and quality assurance. The dialogue
is expected to contribute to greater understanding of global accreditation
practices and support the continuing advancement of quality assurance in
Bangladesh’s higher education sector.
