Reception for meritorious students, a freshman reception and a prize-giving ceremony for winners of various sports competitions were held at Komar Ali High School and College in Sastapur area of Fatullah, Narayanganj.

The programme was held on Sunday (August 30) at 12 noon on the school premises, with Mohammad Nurul Islam, acting principal of Komar Ali High School and College, in the chair.

Narayanganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S.M. Foyez Uddin attended the programme as the chief guest.

Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Suraiya Ashrafi and Sadar Upazila Engineer Yasir Arafat Rubel were present as special guests.

Addressing the students, UNO S.M. Foyez Uddin said, “To become a humane person, you must acquire a proper education. You must keep yourselves away from drugs, terrorism and extortion. Remember, drugs not only destroy you but also ruin your family and society.”

Congratulating the students who achieved good results, he said, “I extend my congratulations and best wishes to those who have performed well. Students can achieve success only through regular studies and by following a proper routine. Remember, it is not possible to succeed in examinations without studying regularly. Those who study consistently are the ones who can achieve success in life.”

Later, the guests handed over prizes to the meritorious students and winners of the sports competitions.

Assistant teachers Sifat Farjina of the day shift and Maria Pasha of the morning shift jointly conducted the programme. Teachers and students of the institution participated in the event.

The programme concluded with an entertaining cultural performance presented by the students of the school.
