Narayanganj : 19 Agust, An awareness meeting was held at the Narayanganj Sadar Upazila UNO office on Wednesday as part of preparations for the Oral Cholera Vaccine Campaign 2026.

The meeting was organised by the Sadar Upazila Health Department in coordination with the local health authorities, administration and partner organisations to ensure the successful implementation of the campaign.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S M Foyez Uddin chaired the meeting, while Dr Abul Fazal Mohammad Mushiur Rahman, Civil Surgeon of Narayanganj, attended as the chief guest.

Sadar Upazila Engineer Yasir Arafat Rubel and Sadar Upazila Secondary Education Officer Suraiya Ashrafi were present as special guests.

At the meeting, officials said two doses of oral cholera vaccine would be administered to residents of all unions under Narayanganj Sadar Upazila, covering people aged one year and above, except pregnant women.

The Oral Cholera Vaccine Campaign is scheduled to begin on August 22, 2026.

Officials said online registration is mandatory for receiving the oral cholera vaccine. Eligible residents have been asked to complete their registration through the official website, vaxepi.gov.bd.

Medical Officer Dr Israt Jahan (Disease Control) gave a presentation on the campaign and its implementation process.

The meeting was conducted by Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Umme Farhana.

Local public representatives, Union Parishad chairmen and members, teachers from madrasas and schools, business representatives and other prominent members of the community attended the awareness meeting.
