Bangladesh Embassy in Algiers observes July Uprising Day

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Algiers, Algeria, observed the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising Day with due solemnity and fervor. The programme commenced with one-minute silence in memory of the July Martyrs. The messages on the occasion issued by the Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh were read out by the Mission officials, a press release said.
A documentary highlighting mass uprising during the July revolution was also screened. During the programme, a special discussion session was organized at the Embassy. A section of the invited guests took part in the discussion.
In his remarks, H.E. Md Najmul Huda, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Algeria, paid deep tribute to all the martyrs and to those who sustained injuries. He stressed that the spirit of the July revolution was to eradicate all discrimination, injustice and oppression from the society and to establish the democratic ownership of the people through good governance. He noted that the democratically elected government led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman remains fully committed to the spirit of July revolution and to implementing the aspirations of the July Charter. Paying tribute to the historical role played by the Bangladeshi expatriates all over the world, he urged them to continue contributing to the country by being imbued with the spirit of July-August mass-upsurge. He also urged upon all to play their respective role in realizing the goals of Bangladesh First policy to fulfill the dream of the July martyrs. The speakers on the occasion paid homage to the martyrs of July-August uprising and wished continued peace, progress and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh.
After the discussion session, a special prayer was offered for the salvation of the souls of the martyrs as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country. The event was attended by expatriate Bangladeshis, academics, journalists, business delegation from Bangladesh, among others. The guests were entertained with traditional Bangladeshi cuisine at the end of the event.
