EBL holds credit distribution, seminar in Moulvibazar

Under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank, Eastern Bank PLC. (EBL), as the Lead Bank of Moulvibazar district, organized an “Open Credit Distribution and Seminar - 2026” to promote financial inclusion and facilitate access to formal credit for marginalized and low-income communities, a press release said.
The event was held in Moulvibazar with the participation of representatives from 40 scheduled banks operating in the district. The initiative focused on extending accessible credit facilities to small entrepreneurs, farmers, low-income individuals and people engaged in various professions, enabling them to expand their economic activities and strengthen their livelihoods.
As part of the programme, loan cheques were distributed publicly among selected borrowers through the participating banks. The seminar also featured discussions on the potential for business expansion, income generation and greater participation in formal economic activities through appropriate access to finance.
Mohammad Salekin Ibrahim, EVP and Head of Asset, Retail and SME Banking, EBL, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Ranjan Barman DGM, Area Office, Moulvibazar Branch, Janata Bank and Kamal Hossain, DGM and Chief Regional Manager, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, attended as Special Guests. Abu Sayem Muhammad Zafar Imam, SVP and Regional Head- Sylhet and Narayanganj Region, EBL, chaired the event.
Representatives from participating banks, along with the selected borrowers, were present at the event. The initiative is expected to enhance access to banking services among underserved communities, strengthen their confidence in the formal financial system and contribute to broader financial inclusion in the district.
