Bangladesh RMG exports rise 14.73 percent from June, dip 1.92 percent yearly

Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) exports to the world fell 1.92 percent year-on-year in July, slipping to $3,886.72 million from $3,962.65 million in the same month of the previous fiscal year. On a month-on-month basis, however, shipments rose sharply — up 14.73 percent from June 2026’s $3,387.71 million — according to Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) data compiled by Bangladesh Apparel Voice, a press release said.
Woven garment exports led the decline, falling 3.16 percent to $1,727.66 million, while knitwear exports slipped a more modest 0.90 percent to $2,159.06 million, EPB figures show.
The European Union, Bangladesh’s largest market bloc at 49.64 percent of total exports, saw shipments fall 2.45 percent to $1,929.22 million. Germany, the bloc’s largest buyer, was down 2.84 percent to $458.39 million, and France fell 4.44 percent to $169.08 million. Spain and the Netherlands bucked the trend, rising 3.26 percent to $404.52 million and 1.02 percent to $234.89 million respectively, while Italy posted the strongest gain among the bloc’s major markets, up 31.91 percent to $142.18 million.
The United States, Bangladesh’s largest single destination market, held nearly steady at $795.79 million, down just 0.18 percent, with its share of total exports edging up to 20.47 percent from 20.12 percent a year earlier.
The United Kingdom saw exports dip 2.44 percent to $450.82 million, while Canada posted the sharpest decline among major markets, down 8.39 percent to $130.62 million.
Among non-traditional markets, which together held broadly steady at $580.26 million (down 0.48 percent) and now account for 14.93 percent of total exports, Japan edged up 0.29 percent to $108.51 million, while Australia (-0.33 percent) and India (-3.97 percent) posted modest declines.
