The three-hour Teaching TOEFL Skills training engaged 50+ teachers and counsellors, followed by a Directors’ Meet attended by 30+ education partners ETS, a global education and talent solutions organisation and the creator of the TOEFL iBT test, recently hosted a Teaching TOEFL Skills (TTS) training followed by a Directors’ Meet at Grand Palace in Sylhet. The three-hour training brought together 50+ teachers, TOEFL preparation professionals and counsellors for detailed, skills-based training on the updated TOEFL iBT test. Later in the day, 30+ education agents and channel-partner leaders attended the Directors’ Meet to understand the test’s latest features, their relevance for today’s learners and how partners can better guide students pursuing international education, a press release said.

Karan Lalit, Executive Director, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, led the day’s engagements, beginning with the welcome address. The three-hour TTS training was delivered in two focused sessions by Ms. Priank Chhabra, Director, Training, South Asia, TOEFL and GRE, ETS, covering the TOEFL iBT test’s updated format, delivery and assessment approach. The sessions concluded with a question-and-answer and feedback session. The subsequent 90 minutes Directors’ Meet, led by Karan Lalit and Karthik Rajasekaran, Director, Channel Management – Rest of South Asia, ETS, presented the updated test from a student and partner perspective before concluding with networking over high tea.

Participants received official TOEFL preparation and classroom-support resources, including lesson plans, a study planner and access to TOEFL Practice Online. Participants who completed the TTS training also received certificates, helping reinforce the knowledge gained during the training and support more structured preparation for test takers.

Sylhet is an important emerging market within Bangladesh’s outbound education landscape, with students showing particular interest in the United Kingdom and European destinations. The market also faces English-language proficiency gaps, while repeated attempts at English-language proficiency assessments among some aspirants indicate a need for wider awareness of credible assessment options and more structured preparation support. Sylhet’s established network of education consultants and training institutions can play an important role in addressing this need.
