Universal Medical holds kidney, bone marrow transplant seminar

A scientific seminar on the latest advances in blood diseases, bone marrow transplantation and kidney transplantation was held at the Lecture Gallery-1 of the college in a joint initiative of Universal Medical College Hospital in the capital and Max Healthcare of India, a press release said.
Dr. Satyaranjan Das, Senior Director (Hemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant) of Max Healthcare of India, presented keynote papers and technical information in the seminar. In their speeches, they discussed in detail the international experience, medical methods and scientific aspects of bone marrow transplantation, complex blood diseases and modern kidney transplantation.
Universal Medical College Hospital Managing Director Dr. Ashish Kumar Chakraborty, in his welcome speech to the distinguished guests, said that work is being done to start liver transplant, bone marrow, bone-joints and kidney transplant in this hospital in the future and, while greeting the heads of various departments of the hospital, highlighted the importance of development of the health sector of this country and international knowledge exchange. The vote of thanks was given by Professor Dr. Uttam Kumar Pal, Principal of Universal Medical College.
The panelists of nephrology and kidney experts at Universal Medical College Hospital, Brigadier General (Retd) Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam (Urologist), Professor Dr. Rana Mokarram Hossain (Nephrologist) and Associate Professor Dr. Tofail Ahmed (Nephrologist).
Also present on the hematology panel were Lt. Col. Dr. Ruksana Khanam (Hematologist), Dr. Farhana Islam Nila (Transfusionist) and Dr. Md. Akhlaq-ul-Islam (Hematologist), Senior Consultants of Universal Medical College Hospital.
Also present at the event were Brigadier General (Retd) Professor Dr. AK Mahbubul Haque, Director (Medical Services) of the hospital, Deputy Director Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, CEO of AIIMS Healthcare Limited Md. Mushfiqur Rahman and heads of various clinical departments of Universal Medical College. The entire event was moderated by Dr. Anika Mahbub, Assistant Professor of Transfusion Medicine Department of Universal Medical College and coordinated by Dr. Ayesha Siddique.
The experts present said that kidney and bone marrow transplantation plays a very important role in modern medicine and is increasing the life expectancy of people, as a result of which sick patients are living healthy and normal lives. At the end of the seminar, the invited guests were presented with honorary mementos.
