Eastern University (EU) organized its Freshers’ Orientation for the Summer Semester 2026 on 18 July 2026 at its permanent campus in Ashulia. The program was presided over by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, a press release said.

The Chief Guest was Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan, Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka. Prof. Dr. Md. Hassan Kawsar, Member of the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh, attended the program as the Special Guest.

The newly admitted students were warmly welcomed to the Eastern University family. In his speech, the Chief Guest encouraged the students to develop a strong sense of justice, honesty, human values, and respect for the rule of law. He also highlighted the importance of critical thinking, logical reasoning, and social responsibility alongside academic excellence.

Addressing the students, the Special Guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Hassan Kawsar, advised them to focus on research, innovation, and professional development. He said that university life is the most important stage for a student’s personal and professional growth. As a guest speaker, Mr. Md. Abdullah-Al-Masum, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Gazipur, and a distinguished alumnus of Eastern University, encouraged the freshers to make the best use of their university life by developing knowledge, skills, and leadership qualities.

In his presidential address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Farid A. Sobhani urged the students to uphold moral values, discipline, and humanity, and to become responsible citizens dedicated to the welfare of the country and society. During the program, Associate Professor Abdur Rob, Proctor of the University, administered the oath to the newly admitted students and encouraged them to actively participate in the university’s academic, research, and co-curricular activities.

The program also featured speeches by Professor Md. Shamsul Huda, Treasurer; Dr. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar, who delivered the welcome address; A. B. M. Imdadul Haque Khan, Dean of the School of Law; and Prof. Dr. Firoz Ahmed, Advisor to the School of Life Sciences. The concluding remarks were delivered by Mohammad Mamunur Rashid, Head of the Department of Law and Convener of the Freshers’ Orientation Program.

The event was attended by the Deans of different Schools, Heads of Departments, faculty members, administrative officials, staff, guardians, and newly admitted students. During the orientation, the freshers were introduced to the university’s academic system, student support services, clubs, co-curricular activities, and campus facilities. The program concluded with a colorful cultural performance presented by the students.
