
KHULNA : A seminar titled "Human Relations in the Short Stories of Narendra Nath Mitra: Social and Political Sensibilities" was held at Khulna University (KU) today.
The seminar was organised under a research project at the Multipurpose Room of Academic Building-3 of the university at 10.30 am.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session, KU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan underscored the importance of promoting research in arts, literature and culture alongside scientific research.
He said research should explore the roots of the country's arts and cultural heritage through evidence-based studies, adding that multidisciplinary research offers significant opportunities in this regard.
"The ultimate goal of research should be to generate knowledge for the welfare of the country and society and ensure its practical application," he said.
Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities Prof. Dr. Md. Dulal Hossain addressed the seminar as the special guest.
The research paper was presented by the project's researcher Prof. Dr. Sheikh Md. Rajikul Islam, who elaborated on the portrayal of human relationships, social realities and political sensibilities in Narendra Nath Mitra's short stories.
The seminar was chaired by Director of the Research and Innovation Centre Prof. Dr. Kazi Mohammad Didarul Islam.
Professor Dr. YasminAraSathi of Islamic University, Kushtia, spoke as the subject expert, while Associate Professor Md. AbulFazal delivered the welcome address. Assistant Professor ShakilaAlam conducted the programme.
Teachers and students of the Bangla discipline attended the seminar.
