
DHAKA : A delegation of the British Council Bangladesh, led by Arsen Stepp, team leader of its Effective Governance Programme, today paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Pro-Vice Chancellor (Admin) Prof. Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane at his office.
During the meeting, they discussed in detail digital governance in higher education, secure digital systems for information exchange, and the prospects of establishing interoperability among public and private institutions, said a DU press release.
Representatives of the university informed the delegation that DU has already brought its admission, examination, certificate issuance, and various administrative services under digital platforms.
Academic and student records of recent years are being digitally preserved, and several initiatives are underway to modernize and enhance the efficiency of certificate verification services, the release added.
The meeting also explored the possibility of integrating the university’s databases and digital services with relevant national and international institutions in the future.
Prof. Alfasane welcomed the potential support of the British Council in advancing DU’s digital transformation initiatives and assured that any relevant proposals would be considered at the university’s policy-making level.
Director of DU ICT Cell Prof. Dr. Mosaddek Hossain Kamal, Acting Registrar Munshi Shams Uddin Ahmad, Acting Controller of Examinations Dr. Himadri Shekhar Chakrabarty, British Council E-Governance Coordinator Md. Enamul Haque, and Citizen Engagement and Outreach Coordinator Sajia Sharmin, among others, were present on the event.
