DHAKA : A three-member delegation from the Agence Francaise de D‚veloppement (AFD), a French development agency, has recently visited the Bangladesh Public Procurement Authority (BPPA) to observe the country's electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system, including its operations and key functionalities.

During a meeting with Director of the BPPA, Mohammed Salah Uddin, at its conference room the AFD delegation emphasized the importance of harmonizing procurement processes for AFD-financed projects in Bangladesh with the national e-GP system.

The BPPA Director briefed the delegation on the mandatory registration process for using the e-GP platform. 
He informed the visitors that since the introduction of the e-GP system in 2011, a total of 24 development partners have registered with the platform, reflecting its growing acceptance among international financing agencies, said a press release today.

The delegation was also given a comprehensive demonstration of the e-GP system by Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan, Team Leader of the Enhancement, Operation and Maintenance (EOM) of e-GP. 

The presentation highlighted the system's end-to-end digital procurement processes, operational features, and its role in promoting transparency, efficiency, accountability, and competition in public procurement.
