PCCP holds condolence prayer for Omar Faruk Tripura on 5th martyrdom anniversary in Rangamati

A condolence meeting and prayer mahfil were held in Rangamati on the occasion of the 5th martyrdom anniversary of neo-Muslim martyr Omar Faruk Tripura, who was brutally murdered in Rowangchhari, Bandarban. The program was organized by the Rangamati District Branch of the Parbatya Chittagong Chhatra Parishad (PCCP) at the city's Kathaltoli Darus Salam Madrasa on Thursday afternoon.
The program was presided over by PCCP Rangamati District Branch President Tajul Islam Taj, and the organization's Central Committee General Secretary and District Council Member Md. Habib Azam spoke as the chief guest. PCCP Rangamati District Branch Co-General Secretary Md. Nishan Chowdhury, Co-Organizing Secretary Omar Faruk Rimon, District Branch Member Kausar Uddin, Tamim, etc.
Speakers at the condolence meeting expressed deep anger and said that on June 18, 2021, the Imam of the Tulachari Para Jame Mosque in Rowangchhari Upazila of Bandarban district, Omar Faruk Tripura, a neo-Muslim, was brutally shot dead by a hill separatist armed terrorist force supported by Santu Larma. Although five years have passed, there is no visible progress in the case. Most of the accused are still out of custody. Even the family of the murder victim Omar Faruk Tripura has not received any government assistance to date.
The speakers highlighted the current situation in the hilly areas at the meeting and said,
"The armed terrorist organizations active in the Chittagong Hill Tracts have continued their politics of killing, murder and disappearance by targeting Bengalis and ordinary hill people as well as neo-Muslims. 30 families who have become neo-Muslims in the Tulachhari Para of Rowangchhari are currently living in extreme insecurity. We strongly demand that adequate security be provided for these families immediately."
The speakers also mentioned that the ordinary people of the hills want to be freed from these terrorist groups forever. In order to restore permanent peace in the hilly areas, the misdeeds of regional armed organizations like JSS and UPDF must be completely stopped immediately. If these illegal armed organizations are not present in the hills, peace will soon prevail.
PCCP's appeal to the administration:
Immediately arrest and ensure exemplary punishment of the murderers of all those who have been victims of terrorist killings in the hills at various times, including Shaheed Omar Farooq Tripura.
Carry out a swift and effective operation against the regional armed groups in the hilly region.
After the condolence meeting, Mufti Shamsul Alam, founding director of Kathaltoli Darus Salam Madrasa and Orphanage, led a special prayer and supplication, seeking forgiveness for the soul of Shaheed Omar Farooq Tripura and peace and prosperity of the country. Other PCCP district and local level leaders were present at the event.
