Emphasis on proper physical posture and regular exercise
A rally and an awareness-raising discussion meeting were held in Chattogram to promote spinal health and prevent spine-related ailments. The event was organized by the ‘Spine and Neuro Care Foundation of Bangladesh’ on Friday (October 16) to mark World Spine Day.
Held on the premises of Southern Lights International School and College in the city, the event saw the participation of individuals from various walks of life, including doctors, teachers, students, Rotarians, Rotaract members, and others.
During the discussion, speakers noted that maintaining poor posture for long periods in daily life, an unregulated lifestyle, and a lack of physical activity can increase the risk of various spinal problems. To prevent these issues, it is essential to maintain proper posture, engage in regular exercise, and raise awareness about the importance of spinal care.
Jahedul Karim Kochi, President of the Chattogram Press Club, attended the event as the chief guest. Dr. Mahfuzul Kader, Convener of the Spine and Neuro Care Foundation of Bangladesh, was also present.
Other notable attendees included Rotarian Mohammad Jasim Uddin Chowdhury (founding president of the Rotary Club of Chattogram Royals), Rotarian Absar Uddin Chowdhury, Mohammad Abu Naser, Engineer Humayun Kabir, Ahmed Munir, Golam Mostafa Iqbal, and Dr. Suman Kar, among others.
In his address, chief guest Jahedul Karim Kochi emphasized that there is no substitute for disease prevention and health awareness in building a healthy society. He expressed hope that such initiatives would play a significant role in educating the public about spinal health.
Earlier, a vibrant rally was held to mark the occasion. Participants carried banners and placards, spreading messages about maintaining spinal health, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and promoting general health awareness.
