Initiatives ranging from Facebook account recovery to website security and raising cyber awareness.
Suddenly, a Facebook account becomes inaccessible; the password has been changed. Photos, contact details, and even crucial business documents stored in the account are no longer under the owner’s control. Many people are facing such experiences—some fall victim to online fraud, while others lose access to their social media accounts. There are also attempts to steal data by attacking organizational websites.
As internet usage grows, so do these cybersecurity risks. Online security has become a critical issue for everyone, from individual users to business enterprises.
Against this backdrop, Shakil Chowdhury, a young entrepreneur from Cox’s Bazar, is working in the fields of cybersecurity and technical support. He leads an IT firm named ‘Cyber Crime Bangladesh.’
According to Shakil, his firm provides technical assistance regarding the recovery of social media accounts and pages, verification support, website security, and general cybersecurity. He also aims to raise awareness about safe internet usage.
Starting During Student Life Shakil Chowdhury gravitated toward cybersecurity driven by his interest in information technology. He completed his HSC from Cox’s Bazar City College in 2017 and subsequently began working in the technology sector, leveraging his interests and experience.
He eventually established ‘Cyber Crime Bangladesh.’ Shakil has been serving as the proprietor of the firm since 2020.
The scope of his work has expanded over time. Shakil states that more than a hundred young people, both within the country and abroad, are currently engaged in various IT-related tasks under his leadership.
From Account Recovery to Website Security Social media is no longer merely a tool for personal communication; its use is increasingly vital for businesses, professions, and organizational operations. Consequently, losing control of an account carries the risk of financial loss alongside personal inconvenience.
Shakil Chowdhury’s firm offers technical support for recovering such accounts and pages, assisting with verification processes, and ensuring social media security. However, their work is not limited to social media alone; they are also addressing website security. Shakil states that they have been providing technical support regarding cybersecurity to various individuals and organizations across the country.
He also mentioned having experience collaborating with private-sector IT experts from other countries.
Collaboration with the Police Combating cybercrime requires technical support from tech experts alongside law enforcement agencies. Shakil Chowdhury claims that he and his team have provided technical assistance to the Bangladesh Police in several cybercrime cases.
However, the responsibility for investigating cybercrimes and taking legal action lies with law enforcement agencies; the role of private tech experts is primarily limited to technical analysis and support.
Raising Awareness Before Crimes Occur Shakil believes it is crucial to raise public awareness beforehand, rather than seeking solutions only after falling victim to cybercrime.
With this goal in mind, he plans to conduct free awareness seminars at government and private secondary schools, colleges, madrasas, and universities across the country.
In these seminars, he intends to educate students on topics such as safe social media usage, protection against online fraud, personal data privacy, password security, and safe internet practices.
We Want to Work Alongside the Government Regarding future plans, Shakil Chowdhury said, “My team and I are working for the country. We have recently assisted the Bangladesh Police with several cybercrime cases. We want to continue contributing to the nation’s cybersecurity from our position.”
He reiterated his desire to conduct free awareness seminars on internet usage at educational institutions nationwide. A key objective is to encourage the younger generation to use the internet safely.
Shakil added, “We are willing to work hand-in-hand with the Government of Bangladesh. If we receive state support or sponsorship, we will dedicate our utmost effort to the country’s interests and cybersecurity—Insha’Allah.” Greater Challenges Ahead
The nature of cybercrime is evolving alongside the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud technology, and digital services. Just as criminals are devising new tactics to keep pace with emerging technologies, cybersecurity systems must also be constantly updated.
Consequently, cybersecurity is no longer a matter concerning only technical experts; it is a critical issue for everyone—from individual users and business enterprises to educational institutions and the state.
Shakil Chowdhury’s initiative is part of this changing landscape. It remains to be seen how far-reaching his planned awareness campaigns will be, alongside the technical support he provides for services such as account recovery and website security.
After all, the battle for cybersecurity is not fought with technology alone; safe internet usage also demands awareness, vigilance, and responsible behavior.
