The 9th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) is playing an active role in maintaining law and order, ensuring security, and combating crime in key and remote areas of Chattogram and its vicinity. In addition to participating in joint force operations in Jungle Salimpur, the unit is conducting security activities from newly established temporary camps.
These operations are being carried out under the overall leadership of the APBn Chief (Additional Inspector General of Police) and the direct supervision of the 9 APBn Commander in Chattogram.
The unit is also working to ensure the security of FDMNs (Forcibly Displaced Myanmar Nationals) residing in Ashrayan Project-3 at Bhasan Char, Noakhali—which falls under 9 APBn's jurisdiction—while maintaining law and order in the camp areas and preventing human trafficking.
Separately, 9 APBn personnel are responsible for the outer-perimeter security of Shah Amanat International Airport. They are also deployed to maintain law and order and provide VVIP security at various vital installations and locations as required.
However, 9 APBn's operations in Jungle Salimpur are of particular significance. Alongside conducting joint force operations in this remote area, two temporary APBn camps have been set up. Through these camps, the unit monitors the local law and order situation, takes action against armed terrorist groups, and works to prevent anti-government activities.
9 APBn’s elite intelligence team maintains constant surveillance to recover illegal arms and ammunition, as well as to intercept contraband, narcotics, and explosives. Officials have confirmed that regular operations are conducted based on intelligence inputs.
Furthermore, 9 APBn is actively combating technology-based crimes. Cyber operations are being conducted to recover lost mobile phones and return them to their rightful owners, retrieve funds lost to online or mobile financial service (bKash/Nagad) fraud, and restore compromised Facebook, Gmail, WhatsApp, and IMO accounts.
According to officials, 9 APBn works in an integrated manner—handling conventional law and order duties alongside operations in remote areas and vital installations, as well as tackling cybercrime and the recovery of narcotics and weapons. Rapid deployment to various areas to ensure security based on situational needs is also a key responsibility of the unit.
