A cordial and warm courtesy meeting took place today between Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Minister of Cultural Affairs, and Saching Prue, MP, Minister of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, at the former’s office in the Bangladesh Secretariat.

Saching Prue—Minister of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs and a prince of the traditional Bomang Circle in Bandarban—arrived at the Cultural Affairs Minister’s office this afternoon, accompanied by his Private Secretary (Deputy Secretary), Mohammad Rashedul Haque.

Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guest and Bomang Circle prince, Saching Prue. Their spontaneous and thoughtful conversation presented a unique picture of the confluence of heritage, tradition, and culture, deeply moving everyone present.

During the meeting, Minister Saching Prue sought the full cooperation of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs to further promote and invigorate the diverse environment, nature, rich history, enduring traditions, and cultural activities of the Chittagong Hill Tracts region on both national and international stages.

Minister Saching Prue emphasized the need to build a society grounded in unbreakable equality and amity—free from division—by uniting the distinct customs, colorful attire, unique rituals, and folk cultures of the Bengali and Hill people (comprising twelve ethnic groups) who live together in the multi-lingual and harmonious district of Bandarban.

He further noted that the time has come to usher in a new era of peace, harmony, and cultural awakening in the Hill Tracts. He placed special emphasis on composing a unique narrative of harmony by bridging the emotional divide between the Hill people and the Bengalis through the dissemination of cultural engagement. During this significant courtesy meeting, Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khaiyam, MP, the Honorable State Minister for Cultural Affairs, was present and pledged to strengthen cultural ties; he also outlined his views on further intensifying cultural exchange activities through the joint initiatives of the two ministries. Minister Saching Pru invited the Minister and the State Minister for Cultural Affairs to attend the Prabarana Purnima and Pitha Festival, scheduled to be held in Bandarban on October 25.
