Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. AKM Shamsul Islam, PSC, G paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Defense Advisor Yao Wen, P.S.C., G. The meeting was held at the Office of the Defense Advisor at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment on Thursday (03 September 2026), a press release said.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their views on further accelerating and strengthening the existing military and defense cooperation between Bangladesh and China. In particular, fruitful discussions were held on the issues of advanced professional training, exchange of military education and enhancement of technical capabilities of the members of the armed forces of both countries. Both expressed optimism in the meeting that mutual exchange of experience and increased training cooperation between the two countries in addressing modern military challenges will take the bilateral relations a step further.
The Defense Advisor to the Prime Minister recalled the long-standing historical friendship, strategic partnership and China’s cooperation in the development progress of the two countries and expressed hope that China’s cooperation will further increase in the future.
During the meeting, the Chinese Ambassador reiterated the country’s commitment to continue supporting the modernization of Bangladesh’s defense sector.
Both sides expressed their firm determination to take the existing friendly relations and mutually beneficial defense cooperation between the two countries to new heights in the future.
