A unique interaction and orientation session was held in Narayanganj Sadar Upazila to brief students about government services, administrative activities and the procedures for accessing public services.
The programme was organised by the Sadar Upazila administration with the aim of increasing civic awareness among students and making it easier for them to access government services.
Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) S M Foyez Uddin formally inaugurated the programme as chair at the Sadar Upazila Hallroom at 11:00am on Wednesday (September 2).
On the first day of the initiative, local students were given a detailed briefing on various services provided by the office of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, as well as its administrative functions and service delivery procedures.
Speaking at the programme, UNO S M Foyez Uddin said people often lack a clear understanding of the functions of different government offices and the procedures for receiving public services.
“Students are the conscious citizens and future leaders of the country. Therefore, it is essential to provide the younger generation with a clear understanding of government services, citizens’ rights and administrative accountability from an early age,” he said.
He said the upazila administration had taken the initiative to raise awareness among students about government services and administrative activities.
“Through this initiative, students will not only become aware of their own rights and responsibilities but will also be able to help their families and communities by providing them with information on the proper procedures for accessing government services,” the UNO added.
The Sadar Upazila administration said the initiative is not a one-day programme. A series of orientation sessions will be organised in phases to familiarise students with the activities and services of different government offices in Sadar Upazila.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Fatullah Revenue Circle Aungmarching Marma, along with other officials of Sadar Upazila, attended the orientation session.
