Malaysian government spokesman Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said a claim made by a Bangladeshi minister that Malaysia is planning to employ 200,000 Bangladeshi workers in the next six months does not represent the official position of the Bangladesh government.
He said Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan informed him that the statement was made by a state minister and should not be considered as an official announcement by the Bangladesh government.
He made the remarks at his weekly press conference at 2pm local time on Wednesday.
“This does not represent any official decision by the Bangladesh government. The Human Resources Minister has informed me of this. Therefore, it is not an official position,” he told reporters at his weekly press conference.
Earlier on Sunday (August 30), Bangladesh’s State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shah Alam told reporters that Malaysia is planning to employ about 200,000 Bangladeshi workers in the next six months.
He added that the recruitment process will begin in stages at the end of September and will be completed within six months.
