To raise awareness about the capital market and expand investment-related knowledge among students, a special workshop titled “Capital Market Review: Empowering the Next Generation of Investors” was held at Bangladesh University (BU), a press release said.
Organized by the Bangladesh Academy for Securities Markets (BASM) in collaboration with the university’s Department of Business Administration and the Bangladesh University Business Club (BUBC), the workshop took place on Wednesday afternoon (June 24) at the university’s hall room.
The event was graced by the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh University, Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam, as the Chief Guest. The university’s Registrar, Brig. Gen. Md. Mahbubul Haq (Retd.), attended as the Special Guest. Chaired by Dr. Md. Muzakkirul Huda, Head of the Department of Business Administration, the workshop featured Kamrul Anam Khan, FCMA, Director General of BASM; Nipa Saha (Faculty Grade-3); and Md. Saddam Hossain Khan (Faculty Grade-5) as resource persons.
During the workshop, the speakers comprehensively discussed the structure of the Bangladesh capital market, basic concepts of investment, risk management, financial awareness, and the significance of responsible investing for the younger generation.
In a special session, BASM Faculty Md. Saddam Hossain Khan shed light on various practical aspects of the capital market. He outlined the steps of the Initial Public Offering (IPO) and Listing Process. Furthermore, he provided practical insights into pre-investment data analysis and risk assessment strategies, including the “Three Filter Theory for Calculative Risk Management” and ‘Technical Analysis’ (covering chart patterns, trend analysis, and support & resistance levels). These topics generated immense interest among the participating students.
In his address as the Chief Guest, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam stated that in today’s competitive world, financial and investment-related knowledge—alongside academic education—will play a vital role in students’ professional lives. He expressed his optimism that such workshops will effectively contribute to enhancing students’ skills and awareness.
Based on the topics discussed during the workshop, a special quiz competition was organized for the students, and attractive prizes were awarded to those who answered correctly.
A large number of students from various departments of the university attended the event and engaged in a direct exchange of views with the experts during an interactive Q&A session.
