‘Mahadurga,’ a special audio-visual musical project, has been released, carrying messages centered on the glory of Goddess Durga, the power of women, humanity, justice, and women’s empowerment. The project premiered on the ‘Ganjanala’ YouTube channel on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM, a press release said.
Blending elements of Bengali classical, folk, and modern music, this production highlights the various forms and grandeur of Goddess Durga, while also conveying messages of justice, courage, and protest against the oppression of women. A key objective of this initiative is to showcase Bengali culture, tradition, and spirituality through the medium of modern music and visual arts.
The lyrics for ‘Mahadurga’ were penned by Sanjibon Chakraborty, with music composed by Bhabasindhu Sarkar and production handled by Shamim Hasan. The video was directed by Anik Kanti Sarkar, with cinematography by Rafiqul Islam, and editing and color grading by Fakrul Islam.
The vocals feature Bhabasindhu Sarkar, Dola Adhikari, Shubhra Sarkar, Moumita Biswas, SD Sagar, Sikta Saha, Sohag Chandra Saha, and Tanwi Saha. The chorus includes Sanchay Sarkar, Susmita Mondal, Swarnali Sarkar Trisha, Srabani Mridha, Snigdha Biswas, Ajay Chowdhury, and Shimul Sarkar.
Child artist Aira portrays the ‘Kumari’ (maiden) form of Goddess Durga in the central role. Additionally, Priyam—a child artist popular on social media—appears in a distinct, non-musical role, marking a departure from her usual work. Piyush Dutta features in the visuals as a ‘sadhak’ (devotee/seeker), and lyricist Sanjibon Chakraborty also makes an appearance.
The primary patrons of ‘Mahadurga’ are Seema Chakraborty and Bhakti Sarkar. Rupam Jewellers served as a production partner, while Universal Medical College Hospital provided special support for the audio-visual project. Dhakeshwari Temple and Ramna Kali Temple are involved as heritage partners.
Apel Akbar and ‘Cool Exposure’ are responsible for the project’s public relations.
‘Mahadurga’—a production blending music and visual arts—aims to convey the essence of Bengali culture, heritage, and spirituality to audiences both at home and abroad. Furthermore, those involved in the project hope that by highlighting the symbolic significance of Goddess Durga’s strength and courage, it will also help foster awareness regarding the dignity, equality, and empowerment of women.
