The Eastern University Rover Scout Group organized its 3rd Investiture Camp and Campfire on October 10, 2026, at the university campus. The day-long event was attended by Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University, as the Chief Guest. In a special moment, the Vice Chancellor himself took the Scout Investiture before the Rover Scouts took their investiture, adding special significance to the occasion, a press release said.
The event was attended by Md. Omar Ali, Commissioner of Dhaka District Rover, Bangladesh Scouts, as the chief Scout representative. Special guests included Dr. Moha. Akkach Ali Akash, Secretary of Dhaka District Rover, and Farhad Hossain, District Rover Scout Leader (DRSL). Nasrin Jahan, Secretary of the Rover Scout Group of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, and Moha. Khurshid Alam, District Rover Scout Leader Representative of Dhaka District Rover, were also present. Deans, department heads, teachers, students, and officials from different departments of the university also joined the event.
Investiture is the formal entry into the Scout Movement. After completing the required learning, preparation, and other conditions within the specified period, a Rover Scout becomes eligible to take the investiture. Through this ceremony, Rover Scouts promise to follow the Scout Promise and Law and to uphold the principles, values, and spirit of service of the Scout Movement. The Investiture Camp helps new Rover Scouts understand the ideals and values of Scouting and encourages them to become responsible citizens who are committed to serving others.
The Investiture Camp and Campfire are important educational and extracurricular activities for Rover Scouts. Such events help young people develop discipline, punctuality, leadership, teamwork, self-reliance, and the ability to face challenges. Through tent setup, group activities, and cultural performances, participants learn the importance of cooperation, creativity, and friendship.
One of the main goals of the Scout Movement is to inspire young people to develop strong moral values, build good character, and serve others. Scouting helps young people develop their skills and abilities while encouraging them to contribute to the well-being of society and the country.
The Eastern University Rover Scout Group expects that its 3rd Investiture Camp and Campfire will play a positive role in developing students’ personalities, strengthening their leadership and organizational skills, and increasing their sense of responsibility toward society and the country.
