A day-long ‘Construct Carnival’ was held at Rajshahi
University of Engineering & Technology (RUET), blending engineering
knowledge, creativity, and practical skills. Organized by the Department of
Building Engineering and Construction Management (BECM) on October 3, the event
created a festive atmosphere across the RUET campus, a press release said.
The carnival’s official proceedings began with a colorful
rally. Faculty members, students, participants, and others associated with the
BECM department took part as the rally made its way around the campus.
Subsequently, the event unfolded through a series of competitions, exhibitions,
and other activities throughout the day.
The main attractions of this year’s Construct Carnival
were five competitions centered on various practical aspects of engineering and
construction management. Each competition provided an opportunity to assess and
enhance the students’ technical knowledge, creative thinking, problem-solving
capabilities, management skills, and proficiency in practical engineering
applications.
For an engineering student, acquiring knowledge solely
from textbooks is insufficient; the ability to apply that knowledge in
real-world situations is equally crucial. The competitions at the Construct
Carnival offered students the chance to gain such practical experience. At the
same time, the event played a role in fostering skills related to overcoming
challenges, teamwork, time management, and creative problem-solving.
