DHAKA : The Department of Architecture at North South University (NSU) organized its Fall 2026 Orientation Program on 12 September 2026 at the Sky Gallery, SAC Building, Department of Architecture, NSU, welcoming a new cohort of 45 aspiring architects to the department.

The orientation marked the beginning of an exciting and challenging academic journey for the newly admitted students. The program was attended by the freshmen students and their parents, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The presence of family members added a special dimension to the occasion, reflecting the importance of family support as the students embark on their university life.

The formal program commenced with a welcome address by Ar. Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Chairman, Department of Architecture, NSU. In his speech, he welcomed the new students and emphasized the significant role of architects in shaping the built environment and influencing the quality of human life. He encouraged the students to approach their academic journey with creativity, dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Following the Chairman’s address, distinguished faculty members of the Department of Architecture shared their professional experiences and academic insights with the newly admitted students. They offered words of encouragement and introduced the students to the collaborative and dynamic learning environment of the department. The faculty members also highlighted the importance of creativity, critical thinking, teamwork, and continuous learning in architectural education.

As part of the orientation, each of the 45 new students received a sketchbook and pencil, symbolizing the fundamental tools of architectural design. The gifts represented a blank canvas for the students’ future ideas, creativity, and architectural aspirations. The gesture also reflected the department’s encouragement for students to develop their design thinking and creative expression from the very beginning of their academic journey.

Following the formal session, the students and their parents were taken on a tour of the Department of Architecture’s facilities. They visited the studios, workshops, exhibition spaces, and other academic facilities where they will engage in their design and learning activities. The tour provided the students with an opportunity to become familiar with their new academic environment and gain a better understanding of the facilities available to support their architectural education.

Faculty members and administrative staff of the Department of Architecture were present at the orientation program and welcomed the new students and their parents.

The program concluded with the Chairman’s closing remarks and a warm welcome to the Fall 2026 cohort. The orientation successfully created a positive beginning for the new students as they prepare to commence their academic journey in architecture at North South University.

With the orientation successfully completed, the new students are now ready to begin their classes and embark on a rigorous and rewarding journey of architectural education, creativity, design, and discovery at NSU.
