sustainable development, and the role of investment in unlocking the potential
of the global ocean economy.
The Future Investment Conference 2026 (FIC2026) is a
high-level international platform bringing together policymakers, institutional
investors, technology innovators and industry leaders to explore how
international investment can be better leveraged to promote sustainable growth.
Organised by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in partnership with China’s
Ministry of Commerce and the Xiamen Municipal Government, the conference is a
flagship event of the China International Fair for Investment and Trade
(CIFIT), one of the country’s major international investment and trade
platforms.
Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury proposed a Blue Inclusive
Finance Initiative, comprising four pillars: a Blue Microfinance Facility, a
Blended Blue Carbon and Impact Fund, a Technology Partnership, and a Joint
Academic Programme linking universities, development finance institutions and
technology partners.
His participation at FIC2026 reflects North South University’s growing engagement with global discussions on sustainable development, inclusive finance, climate resilience, innovation, and socially impactful solutions.
