With the aim of enhancing career development, professional skills, and employment opportunities for young people, JCI Barishal organized ‘Bridge to Career 1.1 – Sylhet Division’ in Sylhet.
Held under the theme “Learn, Connect and Get Hired!”, the career-focused event featured a series of sessions on career planning, skill development, leadership, and preparation for entering the professional world. The event was organized in collaboration with the Leading University Business Club (LUBC).
Speakers at the event emphasized that academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient in today’s competitive job market. Alongside academic knowledge, young people need strong communication skills, leadership abilities, problem-solving capacity, professional conduct, and workplace-oriented skills. They said that preparing for these areas from student life can help young people establish themselves more effectively in their professional careers.
Several sessions on career planning and professional development were arranged for students. The sessions focused on setting career goals, identifying individual skills and interests, preparing according to the demands of the job market, and learning strategies for succeeding in the workplace. Participants also received guidance on developing leadership qualities and preparing themselves for professional life.
One of the key attractions of the event was the Career Masterclass, where experienced professionals shared practical insights from their careers and discussed the skills required in today’s workplace. An on-site CV collection initiative was also organized for job seekers, allowing participants to submit their CVs while gaining direct insights into recruitment processes, job preparation, and professional opportunities.
The event was attended by Professor Dr. Mohammad Taj Uddin, Vice-Chancellor of Leading University, as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Bashir Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Leading University, attended as a special guest.
Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, Executive Vice President of JCI Barishal and Head of Business at Platinum Group, delivered the keynote speech. Addressing the young participants, he provided important guidance on setting clear career goals, developing leadership capabilities, preparing for professional life, and understanding the demands of the real-world workplace. He also stressed the importance of continuously developing skills and keeping pace with changing workplace requirements.
Among others, JCI Barishal Local President Barrister Farzana Akter and Vice President Kibria Sarwar were present at the event. The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahanshah Molla, Head of the Department of Business Administration at Leading University. Zaynab Sarker, Assistant Professor of the same department, coordinated the overall event.
Gearlaunch, Ziran Security, and Sync IT Bangladesh supported the event as co-sponsors. With their cooperation, various activities, including the Career Masterclass and CV collection, were successfully conducted.
The organizers said that ‘Bridge to Career’ is essentially an initiative aimed at creating an effective bridge between educational institutions and the professional world. The initiative seeks not only to prepare students for employment but also to raise awareness about future career opportunities, help them develop essential skills, and familiarize them with the realities of the workplace.
JCI Barishal further stated that such initiatives play an important role in developing leadership qualities, enhancing skills, and creating employment opportunities for young people. In particular, the initiative seeks to provide university students with practical career insights by strengthening connections between them, industry professionals, and the corporate sector.
Organized in Sylhet in collaboration with the Leading University Business Club (LUBC), ‘Bridge to Career 1.1’ received a positive response from students and young job seekers. Participants gained practical knowledge about career planning, skill development, and job preparation, while also getting opportunities to connect with experienced professionals.
The organizers expressed hope that more such activities will be arranged for young people in different parts of the country as part of the ‘Bridge to Career’ initiative. They believe these efforts will strengthen young people’s preparation for the transition from academic life to professional careers and contribute positively to building a skilled workforce.
