DHAKA : The Department of Architecture at North South
University (NSU) inaugurated its 20th Architectural Exhibition,
titled “First StepTowards Architecture,” on August 27, 2026. The week-long
exhibition will remain open to visitors from August 27 to September 3, 2026,
from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at the NSU Exhibition Hall.
Partnered by Trust Bank and Me Creation, the exhibition is
a recurring semester-end tradition that showcases the early creative
explorations and academic achievements of architecture students across several
key courses, including ARC111, ARC112, ARC213, ARC316, and ARC343.
The inaugural ceremony was chaired by Professor Abdul
Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of North South University. The event was
inaugurated by the State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Habibur
Rashid, MP, who attended as the Chief Guest. Benajir Ahmed, Member and Former
Chairman of the NSU Board of Trustees, attended as the Guest of Honor.
During the inauguration, the Chief Guest formally opened
the exhibition and interacted with the students, faculty members, and guests.
The presence of distinguished guests added significance to an event centered on
creativity, learning, and the development of future architects.
The ceremony also featured addresses by Professor Nasar U.
Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU, and Architect Shahriar Iqbal Raj, Chairman
of the Department of Architecture, who warmly welcomed the distinguished
guests, faculty members, students, visiting students, and members of the
public.
In his speech, the Chief Guest, Habibur Rashid, MP, State
Minister for Railways and Road Transport and Bridges, congratulated the
students on their early achievements in architectural design. He emphasized
that architecture goes beyond the creation of physical spaces; it plays a vital
role in shaping human experiences, lifestyles, safety, and the overall quality
of life.He encouraged the students to embrace failure as an essential part of
the learning process, strengthen their foundational knowledge, and continuously
develop their creative and critical thinking skills. He also urged them to
cultivate a strong sense of social responsibility and to prioritize the
collective interests of the country over personal ambitions.
The 20th edition of the Architectural
Exhibition marks a significant milestone for the Department of Architecture.
Beyond serving as a platform for academic exchange, the exhibition strengthens
the connection between the university and the wider community. Students from
neighboring architecture schools also attended the exhibition and expressed
their appreciation for the quality and diversity of the work presented by NSU
students.
As the Guest of Honor, Benajir Ahmed commended the
Department of Architecture for its sustained achievements in research and
student success at both national and international levels. He reaffirmed NSU’s
commitment to maintaining its position as a center of excellence in higher
education and supporting the continued growth and development of its students
and academic programs.
In his remarks, Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice
Chancellor, highlighted the important role of young architects as future
stewards of the nation. He encouraged students to use their education,
knowledge, and creativity to contribute to improving the everyday quality of
life of the people across Bangladesh.
Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury
emphasized the significance of creativity and innovation in architectural
education and professional practice. He encouraged students to become job
creators and active agents of positive social change rather than limiting
themselves to becoming job seekers.
