Signing of Guarantee Agreements with 11 Banks and 1 Financial Company
PKSF has signed twelve separate credit guarantee agreements with 11 banks and 1 financial company under the ‘Credit Enhancement Scheme (CES)’ implemented by Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF). The institutions that signed the agreements are BRAC Bank, City Bank, Prime Bank, NCC Bank, Trust Bank, Southeast Bank, Mercantile Bank, Commercial Bank of Ceylon, Dhaka Bank, Madhumoti Bank, Shimanto Bank and The UAE-Bangladesh Investment Company Limited (UBICO). Under these agreements, banks and financial companies will be able to provide guaranteed loans of a total of Tk 2,800 crore to various affiliates of PKSF in their micro-enterprise financing activities in the current fiscal year 2026-27, a press release said.
At the event, PKSF Managing Director Md. Fazlul Quader said, “This scheme has been launched to formally involve commercial banks in the successful implementation of the initiative taken by PKSF to transform low-income people of the country into entrepreneurs. Under this scheme, PKSF’s associate organizations will take loans from banks and distribute them to small entrepreneurs, and PKSF will provide loan guarantees. PKSF’s close supervision will ensure proper utilization of the loans.” He further said, “PKSF’s CES will play an important role in ensuring inclusive and equitable growth by ensuring that the banking sector’s money reaches small and medium entrepreneurs and marginalized communities.”
At the event organized at PKSF Bhaban-1 in Agargaon, the capital, Mr. Muhammad Hasan Khaled, Deputy Managing Director, signed the agreement on behalf of PKSF and the Managing Directors/Deputy Managing Directors of the respective banks on behalf of the banks.
It is worth noting that the CES officially started its operations on July 1, 2025. In the first year of implementation, 10 banks and 1 financial company signed agreements with PKSF. Out of these, 6 banks and 1 financial company have disbursed a total of Tk 1,082 crore in loans under the micro-enterprise financing activities of 26 associate organizations.
