Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), in collaboration with Mastercard, today announced the launch of Google Pay for MTB’s Mastercard debit, credit, and prepaid cardholders, enabling them to make fast, secure, and seamless contactless payments using compatible Android devices, a press release said.
The launch expands digital payment choices for consumers in Bangladesh, allowing MTB Mastercard cardholders to add their cards to the Google Pay app and make contactless payments at millions of merchant locations worldwide, as well as complete secure online and in-app purchases at home.
Powered by advanced security features, such as tokenization, device-level encryption, and biometric authentication, Google Pay helps safeguard every transaction while delivering a simple and intuitive checkout experience.
To mark the launch, MTB and Mastercard hosted a live demonstration at Police Plaza, where guests experienced Google Pay transactions at participating merchants using MuthoPay, Bangladesh’s first and only SoftPOS solution, introduced earlier this year. The event was attended by Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Managing Director and CEO, Mutual Trust Bank PLC; Gautam Aggarwal, Division President, India & South Asia, Mastercard; Sandun Hapugoda, Country Manager, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, Bhutan & Nepal, Mastercard; Zakia Sultana, Country Manager, Bangladesh, Mastercard, along with other senior executives from both organizations.
